BAAEED (GB) was announced as the Cartier Horse of the Year at the 32nd Cartier Racing Awards during a glittering ceremony at the Dorchester Hotel in London yesterday evening. Trained by William Haggas, Baaeed faced stiff opposition to claim the Cartier Horse of the Year accolade, with Group 1 Qatar Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe winner ALPINISTA (GB) among the other nominees.

GEORGE BOUGHEY TARGETS BREEDERS’ CUP FOR A SECOND TIME
2022 has been a landmark year for George Boughey, as he registered a first Classic success with Cachet in the Group 1 QIPCO 1,000 Guineas. That filly has been somewhat of a flagbearer for Boughey, as twelve months ago, she became the stable’s first Breeders’ Cup runner, finishing 4th in the Juvenile Fillies' Turf at Del Mar. A year on and Boughey has his eyes set on the US end of season showpiece once again, this time with Via Sistina*.

The initial catalogue features 1,552 lots and includes more than 70 Group or Listed performers. The sale will offer progressive horses in training combined with fillies and mares from outstanding international families, plus drafts from leading racing operations such as Juddmonte, Godolphin and Shadwell.
HOMEBRED BAY BRIDGE STAGES UPSET IN CHAMPION STAKES
BAAEED (GB) was unable to round out his sparkling career with a win in the Group 1 QIPCO Champion Stakes at Ascot Racecourse on QIPCO British Champions Day, and it was instead BAY BRIDGE (GB) who took the honours, holding off a persistent ADAYAR through the final stages of the 1 mile 2 furlong contest.
