The Tattersalls October Yearling Sale has been the focus of the global bloodstock industry recently, with buyers from all around the world descending on Newmarket for the world-leading sale. More than 158 million guineas were spent on yearlings offered across Books 1 to 4, with purchases from over 20 countries recorded.

We now look ahead to the Tattersalls Autumn Horses in Training Sale, the world’s largest horses in training sale. In 2023 alone, 13 graduates of the sale have won Group/Graded races globally including Australian Group 1 winner JUST FINE, UAE Group 1 winner SALUTE THE SOLDIER and USA Grade 2 winner HONG KONG HARRY.

1,750 lots are catalogued in this year's renewal, with drafts from leading racing operations including Godolphin, Juddmonte and Shadwell. Consignors including Barton Sales, Jamie Railton and The Castlebridge Consignment have strong drafts, while top trainers William Haggas, Richard Hannon, Andrew Balding, Karl Burke and Charlie Johnston are also well represented.

Graduates of the Autumn HIT Sale have won at least ten Group races globally every year since 2016. Since 2022, 21 graduates of the sale have won Group/Graded races across eight countries.

ZAAKI (GB) remains a leading graduate scoring 10 Group races in Australia since selling in 2020 including four Group 1 races. Group 1 winners JUST FINE and KNIGHTS ORDER feature as other top performers in Australia after being purchased at the Tattersalls Autumn HIT Sale.

In the USA, HONG KONG HARRY leads the way in recent years with two Grade 2 successes after being bought from Richard Fahey's draft in October 2021, while 220,000 guineas purchase MOTORIOUS (GB) has two Grade 3 victories in 2023 on the West Coast.

SALUTE THE SOLDIER, purchased by Oliver St Lawrence for Fawzi Nass and HRH Sheikh Nasser's Victorious Racing from Clive Cox's consignment, is the latest star performer in the Middle East with two Group 1 wins at Meydan since 2021. Graduates of the sale have also scored big races in Qatar and Bahrain in recent years.

The 2023 renewal of the sale features numerous top-class performers from Europe, with multiple Group winners set to go through the Tattersalls sale ring. View the catalogue here.
